Earlier this month, we learned that Formula One racing star Tony Stewart and his girlfriend Leah Pruett are getting married. We also learned how the pair met, and what their future looks like. Apparently, the race driver and the former NASCAR driver will be getting married on March 31.
Leah Pruett
NHRA Top Fuel driver Leah Pruett is engaged to three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart. They’re planning to marry in 2021. They were first introduced by their mutual friend, Don “the Snake” Prudhomme.
Both are active on social media. Pruett has 313k followers on Instagram, and Stewart has nearly two million followers.
The couple met through Prudhomme in the early part of 2020. They began dating in the following year. They were quarantined together for four months during the coronavirus pandemic.
They are currently in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Pruett invited Stewart to attend NHRA events and short tracks in Oklahoma. During the trip, they checked out some classic hot rods on the strip. They also spent a lot of time on an off-road excursion in Glamis.
Tony Stewart’s racing career
During his career, Tony Stewart has earned a number of titles and awards. In fact, he’s been a part of some of the biggest races in motorsports history. For instance, he drove in the Brickyard 400 and the Hut Hundred. He’s also won the IndyCar championship.
However, there’s one racing event that has eluded the Stewart-Haas driver for years. He’s been involved in three major incidents on dirt tracks in the past year.
The most obvious relates to the car wreck at Oshweken Speedway near Brantford, Ontario. The vehicle involved is a 2007 Ford EcoBoost 400, and Stewart was in it as part of the SHR Racing team. He flipped five times, and was unhurt. The crash also happened to be the most expensive of the three, with a $600,000 fine for the incident.
Relationship with Jamie Schaffer
During his early years of racing, Tony Stewart had relationships with several women. He dated Krista Dwyer for some time in his early career, but the relationship ended. In 2002, he started dating Jamie Schaffer. They dated for a couple of years before they split.
Later, he dated Brandi Schroeder for a short period. He also had a relationship with Jessica Zemken. Currently, he is engaged to Pennelope Jimenez. The two haven’t announced the date of their wedding yet.
In his free time, Stewart likes to race cars. He is active on social media. He has a total of 721.5 K followers on Twitter. He keeps updating his social accounts about sports and other activities. He has a net worth of $100 million.
He is the owner of a NASCAR team. He earns $6 million per year via endorsement deals. He is a highly respected name in extreme sports. His foundation supports various charities. He donates funds to chronically ill children.
Their first meeting
Despite the sports world shutting down last year, Tony Stewart and his drag racing girlfriend, Leah Pruett, have continued to spend time together. Their relationship began last year, shortly after they met at a sponsor event.
The two had not yet become “official” when they announced their engagement on social media on March 18. Both women had been dating other men, including Pennelope Jimenez and Jessica Zemken, before the relationship ended.
The NHRA legend Don Prudhomme introduced the couple via FaceTime. They hung out in Florida in the weeks leading up to the NHRA Gatornationals in March. The pair also spent some time together during a COVID lockdown in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Leah Pruett is a professional drag racer who competes in NHRA competition. She has won 11 races in her career. She started out in Junior Dragsters and later moved up to the Top Fuel, Nostalgia Funny Car, and Pro Mod categories. She is currently a driver for Don Schumacher Racing.
Their future together in motorsports
Despite his involvement in racing, Tony Stewart’s new wife and their future together in motorsport is a bit of a surprise. The couple announced their engagement in March, a year after the couple started dating. They exchanged wedding vows in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Pruett was first exposed to drag racing as a junior in the Junior League. She has since risen through the ranks, winning an NHRA Nostalgia Funny Car championship in 2010.
Before Stewart and Pruett became engaged, they had been hanging out in Florida in the weeks leading up to the NHRA Gatornationals. Stewart showed off his ring, and the couple checked out some of the classic hot rods on the strip. They also took a trip to Glamis for an offroad adventure.
