Interview with co-hosts
Debra McCurdy, the mother of actress Jennette McCurdy, was a serial abuser. In a new memoir, McCurdy writes about how her mother abused her, from forcing her to take baths in the shower until she was sixteen, to touching her breasts. The mother never went to therapy.
It was her mother who gave her a breast exam at age two, and she gave her vaginal exams until she was a teenager. During her adolescent years, Debra encouraged her to become anorexic.
Debra’s abuse and neglect caused a devastating effect on her daughter’s physical health, and she died of breast cancer at 21. While McCurdy has struggled with her own health issues, she has also fought to make amends with her mother.
McCurdy wrote a poignant book about her relationship with her mother. In the book, she recounted a series of “scathing” emails from her mom, who often called her a “little slut” and a “ugly monster.” She also describes how she tried to live up to her mother’s expectations.
Abuse as a child star
Jennette McCurdy, who starred on the popular Nickelodeon show iCarly, was abused by her mother as a child. Now, years later, she’s ready to reveal the truth about her childhood and her abusive relationship. Her memoir is set to be released in February.
In her memoir, McCurdy wrote that her mom “was a controlling, manipulative, and emotionally abusive parent.” Her mother also encouraged McCurdy to get an eating disorder to prevent her from menstruating. Eventually, McCurdy developed an eating disorder herself.
In the book, McCurdy described how her mom had her take weekly weigh-ins and monitored her food intake. She said that she feared meeting her mother’s fate when she started acting.
In addition to her mother’s abusive behavior, McCurdy says that she was pressured to perform sex as a child. She recalls her mother touching her breasts and checking for lumps. In addition, her mother also allegedly performed genital examinations on her.
During her career, McCurdy also had to deal with competing demands from her mother, the network, and the show’s showrunner. She was a child actress who had never wanted to become one. However, she ended up appearing in sitcoms and national commercials.
Bulimia struggle
In a recent interview, actress Jennette McCurdy opened up about her long battle with eating disorders. The 29-year-old revealed she battled anorexia, bulimia, and bingeing for more than a decade.
She struggled with body image and competing expectations from her mom, producers, and fans. She purged and binged, and tried drugs and alcohol to cope.
She suffered from strep throat on the set of her show. Her mother feared her death. She also encouraged her to restrict her diet.
She began bingeing and purging after her mother passed away. Eventually, her bulimia worsened. She was attempting to get rid of the shame she felt over her eating habits.
In an effort to get help, she saw a therapist named Laura. She thought that the process would help her undo the shame. But she was unable to find the right treatment for her. She did not return to therapy for over a year and a half.
In her memoir, “Strong Independent Women,” McCurdy reveals that she struggled with a number of maladies when she was growing up. She wrote about how her mother encouraged her to consume less food, which resulted in her having a “rail-thin” appearance. She also outlined her early career, which included her work on television shows and short films.
Relationship with other men
Many people may not know this, but Jennette McCurdy has had a history of dating several men over the years. From NBA player Andrew Drummond to her former boyfriend Paul Glaser, she has dated a variety of men. However, she hasn’t shared her current relationship on Instagram, even though her last reported boyfriend was her Between costar Jesse Carere.
In addition to her acting career, McCurdy has worked as a writer and a director. Her credits include “Two and a Half Men”, “iCarly”, and the Bill Engvall Show. She is also a musician. She has played Cat in the series Sam & Cat, and Miranda Cosgrove in the comedy series “iCarly.”
She first got involved with a man on the set of her popular Nickelodeon series “iCarly”. Her earliest reported relationship began when she was eighteen. She met 31-year-old Paul Martin, who wrote for the show, on the set. They dated for a few months. After that, they decided to break up.
